It’s a given that all of us here at The Garage are total hedonists about driving the best cars available to us at the limit. And while we pride ourselves on offering our readers reviews of the latest and greatest cars, there is another passion related to all things automotive: the decaying car. There is a combination of beauty and sadness when a car, an object once loved and cared for, simply reaches a point where it is simply too far gone to justify a restoration with no hope of return on your investment.
Such is the case with our subject here, a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. A car built for royalty, titans of industry, people who rule the free world. The Wilton Wool carpeting is intact, but aged. The Connolly leather is starting to crack. The once lustrous paintwork is dulled. What was once one of the most luxurious cars available in the world has been reduced to this sad, but mostly intact heap.
