Yes, that is indeed 2 NASCAR Canadian series cars bearing down on an Eighties era Trans Am, likely an ex Player’s Challenge car. That was far from the strangest thing I saw today at the BEMC test day at Mosport. How about a bugeye Sprite climbing the Andretti straight, struggling to hit 100 mph, while one of these monsters sails past at maybe 150-160?
Ed Note: From the driver of the Trans Am “I was the jam in the sandwich but it looks worse than it was – these guys are total pros and it was fun to share the track. Besides the weather on Test Day was way better than the BEMC weekend! BTW – car 79 has no history in the Players series but races in VARAC in G70.”
Test days near the beginning of the season bring out all sorts of interesting machinery and today was no different. From a body in white NASCAR stocker to a Honda Civic showroom stock car that has obviously undergone some re-constructive surgery over the winter and everything in between.
This weekend is the first regional race of the season in Ontario. For those of you who are close by and who have never been to a club race, you’ve gotta know that this is absolutely, bar none, the best entertainment you will ever find. Anywhere! Not only will you get to see some local NASCAR talent, but also some pretty cool production based machinery: FOR FREE!
That’s right, club racing in Ontario is free for spectators! For the racing tomorrow and Sunday, just visit here and print off your free tickets! Not only will you see some great on track action, but you’ll find that most racers are more than happy to talk with fans about their cars. Bring the kids along and you’ll have more than enough opportunity to take their picture in a real race car!
Did I mention the tickets are free?
Here is a bit of sample of some cars you will see over the weekend.

Can get downright interesting. I remember being in a stock MGB and having a King Cobra go by probably 90 mph faster. Later in my Elva doing about 125mph and having George Follmer and Chuck Parsons (Lola T70 and McLaren Mk3) go by at about 160. You learned what mirrors were for real quick.
