While on his recent trip to New Zealand, our west coast contributor, Aaron Von Minden not only got to spend some time behind the wheel of some vintage sprint cars but also got to visit some nostalgic drags at Autolite Dragway. Who would have thought that front engine dragsters are alive and well in New Zealand!

I Crewed on thew hillbilly Dragster back in the early 70’s. Thats a wartime caddy V8 flathead in there The engines main mod was a four barrel carb off heaven knows what. Me,and the owners at the time were all in our teens. The “hillbilly” Name came from the fact the original builders name was Drysdale….
