Video: In car from the Big Bad Buick on La Bufa

We’ve read Gary’s tales of how dangerous La Bufa is. Now, we can watch it from inside the #115 Buick. Incredible.

I want to go to Mexico!

That beautiful car was driven by a fine gentleman from Mexico who lives near there and had time to test there as well prior to the race. To put things into perspective he finished in 29th overall. He was a good sport when I asked him about a video he posted prior to the running of the race, as a matter of fact it was 73 days before the race. He had just finished posting on Youtube how happy he was to have his car completed 73 days ahead of schedule. Then he went to test and destroyed one whole side of the beautifully prepared car. At any rate he did a great job getting it back to it’s original state and it was an awesome car.

Regarding La Bufa, I must say I was extremely tense that first time (one of three) that we ran it because that is where my good friend, North American director rolled his car 12 times breaking both driver and navigator’s arms into many pieces. I had watched the videos many times of both their arms flying out side the windows with the car landing on them time and time again. I still pucker up when I think about it.

If you have a week stomach do not watch this crash of Gerie Bledso’s Nova. If you do, watch closely you can see both drivers and navigators broken arms flying around as the car rolls over them.

I am that fine gentleman! Thanks.
Yes, we finished 29th… behind the fact that we did not race one full day! An stupid job issue made me drop out for a day. What a shame. From the 6 days that we were able to race we managed 3 podiums… not bad in the Turismo Mayor Category amongst the top dogs.
Yes, I tested my car in a small race track near home 73 days prior to the race.
No, I never tested nor practised La Bufa (that is bad luck. To think that you know it its dangerous).
Yes, a full side of the car was destroyed in the final test (and the front suspension, and the real axle, and several things more. It was a big hit at around a 100 miles/hr), BUT I wasn’t driving it at the time!!! It was a good friend that also races Panamericana and who will remain anonymus since he is still too ashamed.
Yes, the fixed the car in 13 days!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, it ended up beautiful again!
