The summer of 1984. I was 17. The highlight of the summer was my first trip to Mosport for a real race since I was a little kid. The occasion? The 24 Hour race for World Sports cars. Not just race cars, but the ultimate monster machines. The wickedest things on the planet since the Can Am cars that I grew up with. Oh yeah…and a trunk full of BEER!

Over at the Jalopnik a few days ago there was a bit of video of Stefan Bellof setting a record at the Nordschleiffe in a Porsche 956, which got me looking around youtube for more 956 goodness. Imagine my surprise when I came across this gem. The lack of traffic and the corner 4 shunt would indicate that this in car footage was filmed on the Friday afternoon. 23 years later, I think I may have still been sorta sober, standing at the exit of corner 10, directly opposite the Rothmans pit, while this video was taped. Then again, it was still daylight when I wretched in the tent, so who knows.
