There was a time when Formula 1600 (aka Formula Ford) grids were bursting at the seams here in Ontario, boasting more cars than just about any other series. Gradually the grids began to shrink as young up and coming drivers tried their hand at other, more prominent series south of the border. In recent years, Jason Sharp of Move Motorsports Management, has made it his mission to revitalize the series. New branding, corporate partners and support for teams has led to some healthy growth.
As part of the new package, an event highlights video has been promised within 18 hours of every race. This weekend saw twenty racers lining up to begin their season at a soggy Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. I stayed at home this weekend, so I can’t share my own stories, but I have to say that field looks fantastic crossing the starting line!
