Here is an interesting study done by Kelly Blue Book for Forbes.com about the buying habits of men versus women. While I know that Forbes caters to the well heeled, this list is crazy. The average purchase price of the men’s top ten is close to $90,000 us! The women seem to be a bit more real, with their top five averaging out at only $24,000.

Forbes posits that, based on registration data, men prefer vastly more expensive performance cars and women prefer lower priced, practical cars. While this is true of the overall trend (women do tend to be more practical in their purchasing patterns), there’s one variable that’s been left out of the analysis: How much money each gender has available to spend on cars. While it’s true that women are now making more money and are buying more sporty cars and flat-bed trucks than ever, there are still a lot more men who can afford six-figure cars than women. It would be interesting to see how men and women would spend their car dollars if both had the same amount to spend.
