The previous generation Jeep Liberty didn’t really do much to stir this soul. It was Jeep’s baby and it looked the part, yet somehow it just didn’t seem to fit the bill. For 2008, Jeep needed to do something with the aging mommy wagon so they gave it a full redesign.
When I first saw this machine from a distance, I thought the fleet guys had mistakenly put out a Grand Cherokee for me. On closer inspection, I realized this was a totally new machine. The hard sided approach Jeep stylists have taken with the bigger siblings have carried over to the new Liberty. This thing has some serious family character lines.
Our tester is a fully loaded Limited with all the winter necessities including heated seats and remote starter. It has a really cool soft top option that stretches almost the full length of the roof, that would be better suited to the warmer months. Overall, it seems like the Jeep folks have done a pretty nice job of bringing the new Liberty into the family fold. We’ll go into more detail as the week progresses.
