The winner and a chance to win another NASCAR TrackPass

The answers to our little NASCAR trivia test were a little tricky, yet we had a bunch of folks who got them all right. Just for the record, here are the questions and answers:

Where was NASCAR’s first road race held?
Sorry Mr Robertson, Riverside was a good guess but was incorrect. The original track on Daytona Beach was indeed a road course with left and right turns. The second ever NASCAR race took place on the 4.15 mile Daytona Beach & Road course on July 10, 1949. The race was won by Red Byron.

In what year was NASCAR founded?
NASCAR was founded at the Streamline Hotel in Florida in February, 1948. Like so many projects from history, the points schedule was mapped out on a bar napkin.

Who won the 1955 race at Daytona?
The race winner at Daytona in 1955 was Fireball Roberts. When post race tech showed that Roberts connecting rods were 0.016″ too long, he was disqualified and the win was handed to second place finisher Tim Flock.

We’ve put the winner’s names into the hat and shaken them all about: Wait for it….The winner of our first NASCAR TrackPass is William Perry! I’ll be sending the access key to Mr Perry by e-mail. Don’t worry folks, we have another free pass good for 1 full year to give away.

Questions after the break.

The questions may be a bit more obscure this time:

1. Inspired by our friend Russ Bond’s Danica comments: Who were the first 3 ladies to race NASCAR?

2. Where was Richard Petty’s first NASCAR race?

3. What NASCAR driver was nicknamed The Silver Fox?

Let’s try to get all the answers in by tomorrow, so the next winner can enjoy their TrackPass for the final race of the season!
