The new kid on the blog

Awkward.

Awkward.

Thanks for the intro, Gary.

That’s right, I’m getting into this whole blogging thing. You may have come across my podcasts on www.flatovercrest.com, though many of you out there aren’t rabid rally fans like myself. So if you’ve never dropped by there, check it out. It’s cool. But now I’m here, and ready to rock and roll in the Garage.

As Gary mentioned, I come from a bit of a rally family. My pops was a successful navigational rally navvie (with mom driving!) and a mechanic for many successful rally teams through the eighties, and my brother, well, he has a facebook fan page. So that’s all I’m saying about him right now. Myself, I’ve never actually competed in a rally (other than Targa Newfoundland, which Alan and I ran in 2006), instead I’ve crewed for teams both here and in the US, done course car and timing crew work, and helped with and competed in the Ontario rallycross series.

I’ve been into cars my whole life. I absorb absurd amounts of data when I read or watch anything car related. I endlessly impress my girlfriend with my automotive knowledge. Until my recent job change to the elevator industry, I worked in the automotive quality control industry, gaining a unique glimpse into the world of car manufacturing. If it’s car related, I’m down. I love it all.

So what should you expect from me? Rally.

But more, too. I hope to get into some car reviewing, but from a different perspective, and with some interesting machinery. I also hopefully will offer the general Garageblog world a glimpse into some of the lesser known areas of car nuttiness, like RC cars and video games.

Enjoy. I already am.

Hi Erik! Welcome to The Garage, I look forward to reading your posts-RC cars and gaming and rally will definitely add another dimension to TG, and we’ll be a better blog for it.
