Following the release of Alex Roy’s book, The Driver, more than a few politically correct twits made more than a few comments about cross country racers being nothing more than glorified street racers. Anyone who has ever met Alex knows that nothing could be further from the truth. This is a guy who takes his endeavors very seriously and it shows in his level of preparation. With his latest announcement, Roy is learning tons about preparation and professionalism: Team Polizei is going racing - for real!

The king of cross country has teamed up with The Racer’s Group and Skip Barber instructor Rene Villeneuve to campaign an entry in the 2009 Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series. Yep, you read that right, Roy is goin’ racin’. Truthfully, Alex is the first one to tell you that he really doesn’t know all that much about racing so I’ll suspect that the preparation for this campaign has provided a pretty steep learning curve. One thing the man does know though is how to promote something. You can bet that there will be tons of cool Polizei144 swag floating around once the full package is revealed. The team’s first event is at Laguna Seca (yes, I know it is Mazda Raceway) on May 17. That means that Interceptor 144P must be pretty close to being revealed. While Team Polizei is recognized by the rather infamous BMW M5, TRG has a winning history with Porsche. It will be very interesting to see what the new car is.

Good luck boys & girls!

Sweet!! can’t wait. M. Roy has the stones, and a heavy right foot – that’s a good start.
