Mach 5 unveiled at Speed Racer press conference in Germany

Following the release of images of the full size Mach 5 a couple of days ago, the Reuter’s footage of a Speed racer press conference has surfaced on YouTube. Not only do we get some decent images of the real life car, but a little bit of chatter from the films’ stars. Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox and of course Christina Ricci all goober on about how wonderful it is to be involved in the project.

Countdown to Gumball: 2 Days

As a kid, the opening scene from Gumball Rally were burned into my brain. What could be better than a secret society of oddball characters in hot cars racing across the land without a care for local speed limits?

The modern version is called Gumball 3000 and it’s a lot more organized and a tiny bit more lawful, but it still exudes the same excitement. The star studded 2007 edition kicks off this Sunday in London, England before making it’s way to Asia and then back to London.

Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage is Going Video Crazy

Monteverdi High Speed 375

Every car guy’s fave celeb has to be Jay Leno. Let’s face it. Leno is a regular guy who’s been lucky enough to earn a fortune doing something he loves. Along the way, he’s built one of the coolest, car collections and has the ability to keep growing it. If the guy has an idea, he builds it. If he wants a toy, he buys it. Leno’s collection may be one of the most honest ones in the world, as it has such variety that it could only have been put together by someone who truly loves cars.

Through Leno’s blog at Popular Mechanics and his Big Dog Garage, regular car guys who aren’t quite as financially blessed as Leno get a pretty good look at the man’s automotive world. Like every car guy, Jay is proud of his toys and wants to share them with the world. He’s done a pretty good job of sharing his hobby and now he’s going one step further. Big Dog Garage is now airing 4 new videos every week, giving us the change to see all the toys in action. Not only that, but a bunch of videos have been released onto YouTube for us bloggers to share with our readers. Over the next few days, you can expect that The Garage will be posting the full collection. This week’s videos include the super rare Monteverde High Speed 375, a how to article for Corvette owners, footage of the head techie working on Jay’s 1924 Ace motorcycle and a eco friendly parts washer.

Red Bull Official 2007 Launch Movie

It seems that this week is release week for F1 team marketing efforts. First there was the Ferrari video and now we have the Red Bull movie. This wonderful short film features the Red Bull and Toro Rosso team mates, along with a cast of thousands (well, maybe hundreds) in this medieval themed extravaganza. Unfortunately the producers seem to have gotten the sound effects wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, the sound is stunning, they’ve just placed the emphasis in the wrong place. In the Ferrari video, the sweet sounds of combustion make the scenes work. In the Red Bull movie, the ambient sounds are movie quality, but they’ve almost downplayed the sound of the actual cars. It’s a small criticism, but I think they could have edited more soul into the driving scenes.

Enough petty bitching. On to the video after the break.

Is this really the MINI Clubman

We think so. Do you?

If so, the folks at BMW MINI are getting a handle on the viral marketing thing. A few other manufacturers have tried their hand at the concept already, so it will be interesting to see if anyone is actually paying attention.

Monte Carlo Rally Porn

There are few things cooler than in car rally video. 10 minutes of in car from Monte Carlo borders on orgasmic!

This vid is from youtube member Josti88 an 18 year old from the Netherlands. Great work young man!

Alain De Cadenet Spitfire Video

Most of you know Alain De Cadenet from his work as on air talent on SpeedTV. What you may not know is that De Cadenet is somewhat of a renaissance man, with a very wide range of hobbies. Not only is he an accomplished racer, but he is a noted expert in read wine, stamps and vintage aircraft among other things. He even owns a WWII Spitfire, which brings us to this older video. Obviously the shot was set up for effect for a show on the Spit, but things were a bit closer than he expected! I wonder if this is actually his airplane.
