How many parents in today’s world are just terrified about their kids getting behind the wheel? If we could just get them all to introduce kart racing to the offspring at a young age, the world would be a much safer place. Until then, Ford has come up with MyKey, an in car tool to help supplement parenting skills.
MyKey uses the car’s immobilizer system and Sync technology to set limits for the spawn, to prevent them from going hog wild in Mom & Dad’s ride. While some may feel that MyKey is a bit too Big Brother, it gives the parental units the ability to curb the kids enthusiasm a bit and keep them safe.
Really, what better incentive to encourage Buffy to wear her seatbelt than a muted stereo and a dashboard warning that says “Buckle Up to Unmute Radio”? Other highlights include speed limit of 80 mph, traction control that won’t shut off and chimes to aid new drivers in staying at a certain speed.
I think Ford is on to something here, something that car shopping parents will take to heart when choosing a new car.
