Interview: Tony Stewart talks about Talladega win

ts-signing.jpg

Tony Stewart has won a lot of races over the years, but the one trophy that has eluded him is Talladega. Following a huge wreck halfway through the race, Stewart held off a challenge by Dale Jr. to win his first event at the big event. This was Stewart’s 3rd win of the Nationwide Series season.

Thanks to the folks at Nationwide, we have an interview podcast with Smoke after the break.

Villeneuve grows up

In a pre race interview, Monsieur Villeneuve said he would fall back right from the start and stay out of everyone’s way. “I’m not here to win a race, or to ruin anyone’s chase hopes, I’m here to get experience.” He did just that. Started at the back, drove around the middle of the pack and kept his nose very clean. He was nowhere near The Big One and finished a well thought out 21st. Nice job JV.

Four Ford Drivers Discuss Tonight’s Shootout

How does Boris fit all of that inside a helmet?

Courtesy of the Ford Media folks, we have this interview of four of the Ford drivers leading up to tonight’s Bud Shootout. My personal take on the season is that somewhere along the line Boris’ skill and professionalism is going to shine and the good old boys are going to start giving way to Sasquatch!

There will be four Ford teams competing in Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout. David Gilliland, Boris Said, Ken Schrader and Greg Biffle all spoke about the start to the 2007 season during yesterday’s NASCAR media day.

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 Ameriquest Ford Fusion — DOES THE BUD SHOOTOUT MEAN MORE TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM SINCE EVERYTHING IS PRETTY MUCH NEW? HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR YOU GUYS? “I think it’s really important for us. We have a pretty decent race car, but not our best race car for the Bud Shootout. We wish it was our best race car, but we’re saving what we feel is our best car for the 500, but I think we’re definitely gonna see how the track handles with this tire that we’re gonna be on. I’m not saying it’s a lot different, but year-to-year we’ll see how this tire acts and get a pit stop and get a little bit of a run on it, see how far we can go on fuel even though it will be different engines, different carburetor, we’ll still get a basic idea. So this is important for us.”

Ricky Bobby cars and memorabilia to be auctioned for charity

talladeganights15.jpg
Starting yesterday, Sony Pictures has begun an auction of memorabilia from the new movie Talladega Nights - The Legend of Ricky Bobby that includes four cars from the movie. Proceeds from the sale of the cars will go to Variety Kids and the NASCAR Foundation. Knowing the passion NASCAR fans have for buying stuff related to their sport, there is no doubt that this 10 day auction will raise a ton of green.

Talladega Nights - The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

tn_wallA800x600.jpg

Yipee - another NASCAR movie! If you can’t tell by the title, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is a parody of roundy round racing even though Will Farrell may be a more credible good ole boy than Tom Cruise.

Talladega Nights follows the racer who could only count to #1 as he winds his way through the NASCAR world. Opening on August 4th in North America, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby may be destined for a lifetime of glory on latenight TV. Nobody ever accused Days of Thunder of being Oscar worthy, but how often have you been channel surfing and stopped to watch the entire movie?
