If there have been any complaints about Suzuki, one of the most glaring has been a less than complete line of cars for the public to choose from. Buyers who liked the spunky, affordable SX4 had no car to graduate to. All that changes with the new Kizashi, which is scheduled to hit the showroom floor this winter.
Details from Suzuki are few. What we do know is the Kizashi will be powered by a 2.4L four mated to either a six-speed manual or a CVT. A hybrid is in the works. More unique though will be the availability of all-wheel drive-rare in this class of car, but in keeping with the all-wheel drive SX4.
Suzuki is calling the Kizashi a sports sedan, touting European looks and roadholding ability. Naturally, the car was developed on the German Autobahn and the famed Nurburgring-practically a requirement today from anyone promising a fun to drive car. Without knowing any details on pricing, it is difficult to know who Suzuki is targeting. We do know the size-at 183″ long, the Kizashi is larger than a VW Jetta, Honda Civic or Mazda3, but smaller than an Accord or Camry. In keeping with the 3 and Jetta, expect premium features like available leather seating, heated seats, iPod connectivity, and a Rockford Fosgate audio system.
