In it’s latest salvo against rival Subaru, Mitsubishi has dished out the goods on how the next gen Evo will put it’s 300 plus ponies to the ground. With a new Super All Wheel Control system, Mitsubishi aims to take vehicle stability control systems to new heights, while a twin clutch sport transmission will provide super quick clutchless shifting. What does all of this mean? It means that Joe Average can look like a pro while attacking his morning commute!
The full Mitsubishi press release with all kinds of drool worthy tech details is after the break Continue reading →
Over the past few months, Andrew Harvey has been playing with some funky new lenses or something, which have given many of his shots some really different perspectives. A cool example is the Subaru above, taken at the 35th running of the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally last weekend in Pennsylvania. Be sure to visit Flat Over Crest for a bunch more killer shots.
After a number of poorly photo shopped pics of the next gen Subaru WRX, finally we get some honest to goodness shots of Scoobie Doo in the raw. The quick shooters over at Autoblog.it got their shutters clicking in the face of the new Subaru flagship. I hate to say it, but the mini wagon looks like a cross between the Mazda3 and the previous Protege5, rather than a world killing rally car. That said, the car in the shots look remarkably close to production. Continue reading →
Winter is finally here and that means winter rallies, those events that test driver’s skill and co-driver’s stomachs like no other. One of the rally community’s favourite event is the Sno*Drift rally in Michigan. Top shooter Andrew Harvey has a posted a gallery of pics from the 07 event. As always, Andrew’s gallery has so many classic rally images that it’s hard to choose. Should I post a Subaru or Mitsubishi. In the end, what image embodies the sport of performance rally better than a vintage Porsche 911 at full lock?
Be sure to visit Andrew’s post at Flat Over Crest for some stunning work.
Oh No! The upcoming Impreza is what the young folks call FUGLY!
A report by Autocar says that the new Impreza will be released to the public in Subaru’s latest salvo against rival Mitsubishi. The new 5 door hatch, based on the B5 TPH concept will be powered at first by normally aspirated 1.5 or 2.0 liter boxer engines. Continue reading →
Rally has a long history in Canada, in fact it stretches back a full 50 years! This weekend, the Canadian Association of Rallysport is hosting a celebration of those 50 years. They have assembled an incredible list of past champions for the event including names like Buffum, Sprongl, Mcgeer and Richard.
There will be cars on display, a Rally Drive In, a display of 6 decades of rally in Canada and a banquet on Saturday evening.
Just the thing for a lazy Boxing Day morning. This compilation is a little heavy on Euro Techno beats and a little light on exhaust noise (like none) but it is well edited. Enjoy!
The name Prodrive became a household name (ok, only for us rally geeks) by winning six World Rally titles with Subaru. Lately, much of their focus has been on their winning ALMS Aston Martin effort. Now, they’ve combined those programs in offering the Aston Martin Rally GT. Based on the Aston Martin Vantage, the Rally GT follows the route many have taken with lesser production based vehicles. Installation of safety equipment, suspension components and mild performance tweaks mean that this should be a super reliable monster car. Just imagine seeing this thing in your mirrors while barrelling down a stage in your Mini!
Over at WorldCarFans they’ve scooped this shot of the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX. That’s right, it’s a hatch! We’ve always been disappointed that they didn’t offer the STi in the wagon format, so it looks like our wishes may have been granted.
