Nissan unveils Cube at LA Auto Show

Some of the coolest, weirdest cars on the planet have been kept for the streets of Japan for years, never being seen on North American shores. Nissan is finally changing all of that by bringing the funky beyond belief Cube to our market in the spring of 2009. The little asymmetrical box on wheels was unveiled today at the LA Auto Show and while we aren’t there, the Nissan folks have been kind enough to send a few pics our way with more on the way.

When the 5 diminutive 5 seater makes it’s way here, it will be powered by a 1.8L 4 cylinder putting 122 hp through the front wheels via a choice of two transmissions. The masses may choose the CVT option, but here in The Garage we’ll be looking to drive the 6 speed manual. Of course the Cube is all about personal style, so Nissan will be offering tons of accessories.

We can’t wait!

All New Volvo V70: Uncle Olaf would be proud

Regular readers of The Garage know that we love the boxy but good style of Swedish haulers, having owned all manner of turbo bricks over the years. Volvo has announced that it’s newest in a long line of wagons, the new V70, will meet the public this March at the Geneva Auto Show.
For the first time ever, Volvo’s flagship wagon will come with a straight six engine, putting out 235 hp. It might be safe to expect a turbo version topping 300 in the next couple of years. As one would expect, this newest offering comes with a number of new safety features including a cool crash warning system.
