Hey Dad, about the car.

This past spring Jack Roush unveiled his European spec performance pack for the Ford GT. To mark the end of production for the retro supercar, Roush set out to create an exclusive series of engine upgrades as well as unique interior and exterior styling treatments for a select group of European buyers.

The vehicle was designed and assembled at Roush’s Brentwood technical centre in the UK, and was only available through one dealer in Surrey, England. Only ten 600RE versions were built. Check that, only nine are now running. The third in the series only saw three days of fresh air before its untimely death.

SEMA 2007: Pretty Ugly

The Tire and Wheel section of SEMA is a kaleidoscope of chrome and rubber. The problem is too much chrome and rubber can make you literally insane.

To protect show goers from firing off a few rounds from a sawed off, the wheel and tire gang provides buyers with beautiful girls, “sales associates” so to speak, and hot cars to break the monotony.

Gallery: Woodward Dream Cruise Part 1

The first images from the 2007 Woodward Dream Cruise have begun to trickle into The Garage. We’re a few days behind some of the other blogs, but there are a ton of images in this first submission alone. There are over 500 photos to sort though, so I’ll be a busy boy tonight. For now, let’s start things off with the beginning of the trip.

James and Rob Tong took their blue Mustang Cobra, along with other members of a couple of local Mustang clubs down for their annual trip to Woodward. The first stops were at Saleen and Roush, where they saw some pretty cool stuff.

More images from the Cruise later today.

Four Ford Drivers Discuss Tonight’s Shootout

boris-said.jpg
How does Boris fit all of that inside a helmet?

Courtesy of the Ford Media folks, we have this interview of four of the Ford drivers leading up to tonight’s Bud Shootout. My personal take on the season is that somewhere along the line Boris’ skill and professionalism is going to shine and the good old boys are going to start giving way to Sasquatch!

There will be four Ford teams competing in Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout. David Gilliland, Boris Said, Ken Schrader and Greg Biffle all spoke about the start to the 2007 season during yesterday’s NASCAR media day.

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 Ameriquest Ford Fusion — DOES THE BUD SHOOTOUT MEAN MORE TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM SINCE EVERYTHING IS PRETTY MUCH NEW? HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR YOU GUYS? “I think it’s really important for us. We have a pretty decent race car, but not our best race car for the Bud Shootout. We wish it was our best race car, but we’re saving what we feel is our best car for the 500, but I think we’re definitely gonna see how the track handles with this tire that we’re gonna be on. I’m not saying it’s a lot different, but year-to-year we’ll see how this tire acts and get a pit stop and get a little bit of a run on it, see how far we can go on fuel even though it will be different engines, different carburetor, we’ll still get a basic idea. So this is important for us.”

Roush 427R Mustang unleashed on Autoblog

427r_blucranes_big.jpg

Those lucky stiffs over at Autoblog have just spent some time with the new Roush 427R Mustang, and it was no cruise around the blog. Nope, these guys got the time to spin it on a dyno and even take a bunch of passes down the strip. The 427 stands for 427 hp, and the translated to 356 at the wheels, with 330 ft/lbs. Those numbers were solid enough for a 13.2 pass down the 1/4 at 108.77 mph. While that number may disappoint some, don’t forget that most of the big magazine tests are done by pro drivers.

Visit Autoblog for their full story, along with tons of great pics and a nice first try at a video.

Roush press release about the 427R after the break.
