In what is becoming a common move for Nissan, the company has released details of the upcoming Rogue CUV in advance of the North Amerian International Auto Show. Nissan has shown teaser images of the new machine over the past few months, without saying too much about the actual vehicle. Based on the C platform, which is the same as Sentra, the Rogue will be powered by the family 2.5 liter 4 cylinder mated to a CVT and available all wheel drive.

Over at Autoblog today, they’ve spotted a right hand drive something. Is it a Scion? Honda? Maybe it’s the upcoming 2nd gen Nissan X-Trail. Well, here in The Garage we can rule that one out. Continue reading →
How does unofficial viral marketing happen? It’s pretty simple really, one day a voice comes from a speaker in the ad agency (think Charlie’s Angels) and tells the little marketing drones to put something cool together and post it on youtube. Oh yes, don’t put our logos on it anywhere, because we don’t want people to know we were involved.
Such is the newest offering from Nissan. Call this mini SUV meets X-Games. There are 2 videos and a web site, though the site doesn’t work too well at this point.
Nissan has just revealed this teaser of an upcoming Crossover SUV that is due to debut in the fall of 2007. While some regulars in the blogosphere suspect this may be the replacement for the Murano, here in The Garage we have a different view. Up here in the Great White North, we have a little known vehicle (to the American reader) called the X-Trail. The X-Trail Was a Europe only vehicle for years, until it’s release in Canada as a CRV fighter in 2005. Our bet is that this little snippet is really the aft quarter of the Qashqai.
Given that the blogosphere has been posting spy pics of the upcoming 2007 Nissan Qashqai lately, Nissan decided to debut the upcoming vehicle before it’s planned launch at the Paris show.
Aimed at Europeans who want the added functionality of a sport utility, without the size, this small cross over vehicle combines the virtues of an SUV with those of a small car. The car is destined for Europe, Japan and the middle east.
With 4 available engines, several transmissions and 4wd availability, this product bodes well for Nissan.
Now if only they would send the 6 speed, 2.0 liter diesel with 4wd to North America. Oh yes..and change the name!

An eagle eyed young enthusiast has found these first pics of the 2008 Nissan Qashqai. I think the mini Murano looks great, I just hope the name is changed before it comes to North America or they’ll only sell 3 of them.
