It’s rare that I delve into the higher echelons of geekdom, but my Neanderthal brain can surmise something that looks cool.
A case mod is the modification of a computer chassis or video game console chassis. . Modifying a computer case in any non-standard way is considered a case mod. Well a cool case mod created by some car loving braniac has hit the limelight.

First it was Porsche partnering on a cheesy snow sled. Now Saab gets into the winter mix with the endorsement of a ski.
Saab has teamed up with sports brand Salomon to launch a new ski named the ‘Salomon Aero X’. The ski is inspired by Saab’s Aero X concept car that was unwrapped at the 2006 Geneva Show. Or at least that’s what the two companies’ claim, as I fail to see any resemblance at all between the two. The Aero X ski is priced at around $ 1.015.

The Porsche mystique is made up of many legendary cars and the people who designed and drove them. Of the cars, arguably the most important car, the one that laid the foundation for Porsche’s racing supremacy was the Type 718 RS 60 Spyder. This diminutive little car took on and beat not only cars in its’ own class, but those in the larger displacement classes as well.
At the Bologna Motor Show in early December, Porsche will unveil a modern tribute to the famed RS 60. The Boxter RS 60 Spyder wears a new front end, reminiscent of the original car to set it apart from normal Boxters. Added performance comes from an upgraded exhaust that allows 303 horsepower. Wheel spacers push the 19″ Porsche SportDesign wheels further out in the wheel wells to complete the visual.

From these spy shots it appears that Audi is looking to hook buyers away from the Porsche Cayman.
Likely to be called the TTS, Audi is hoping the car will be an alternative to the Porsche Cayman, packing 280 hp when it goes on sale in 2008 for around $73,000. Currently the Cayman can be had for around $58,900

Last month saw the running of the 25th Great American Race. Fortunately for The Garage, the Great Race had a stop in Nashville, Tennessee, home of contributor Scott Simmons from Editblog. Scott took a ton of photos of some more than incredible machinery during the visit. This looks to be one of those Must do in my lifetime events, I’m glad Scott was able to get some shots for us.

There are few details coming from the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, other than the news of the winner. A scraggly looking Rod Millen and co-driver Richard Kelsey have taken the top spot in their Porsche Cayenne Transsyberia.
We will have more stories as they become available

News out of Mongolia today is that Canadians Kees Nierop and Lawrence Yap are out of the rally following a high speed roll. Fortunately the rally prepped Porsche Cayenne kept them safe, other than the usual bumps and bangs that come from an over. Unfortunately their truck sustained more damage and is not able to continue in the event.
The overall leader is now Dr. Erik Brandenburg in his Porsche 911, Safari Rally Clone! Following Brandenburg by just over 9 minutes is the Cayenne of Rod Millen. The previous leader, the Garnham Land Cruiser fell to 12th overall when they spent over and hour and a half trying to get free from a mud hole.
