What better way to spend Father’s Day morning, but hiking around the infield of one of North America’s most storied race tracks? That was how my Father’s Day began, shooting race cars and pretty girls at Mosport. It was bright, sunny and hot as hell this morning and the on track action was pretty hot too. Also hot were some of the hired help around the circuit.

One problem with heading to the track on Saturday morning with plans to shoot photos is the lack of pit babes. Add in the real rain in months and there are even fewer. Not to worry though, the ladies from Mobil 1 and Kumho were there and they had bright smiles despite the gloomy weather.

I’ve gotta admit, it feels a bit dirty walking up to scantily clad girls and asking if I can take their picture. There is a certain element of leering, dirty old man to it, but some readers want to see the girls so I’ll do what I gotta do. At least I managed to squeeze in a bit of beefcake to even out the balance a bit.

Often, one expects a lot from a big event and less so from a smaller program. Sometimes though, the little guy blows the big guy out of the water! When I visited the launch of one of Toronto’s biggest racing events last month, I felt let down. No cars, no flash, no excitement. There has been so much going on lately that I almost backed out of last night’s launch party for the new Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship. What a mistake that would have been!
