Regular readers of The Garage and more than a few search engine visitors take a regular look at the 2007 Pirelli calendar that featured Sophia Loren. For 2008, the production team visited Shanghai, China to assemble the 35th edition of the calendar that is more famous for its’ stunning models and photography than for its’ practical uses.

Did you ever dream about Uma Thurman taking the reins of a high powered sports car? Well, the Pirelli did and the finished result is their new wet dream Mission Zero. Being released in a couple of weeks, this is Pirelli’s second annual short film. The trailer shows Uma in the convertible Lambo, trying to escape some dastardly villans. Really though, it is just a killer showcase of the Pulp Fiction star in a somkin ride.

Pirelli has anounced that 71 year old Sophia Loren will be appearing in the 2007 edition of their famous “art” calendar. More like artsy hootie calender, but it’s fun whatever you call it! Let’s just hope the airbrushes are working overtime and we don’t all go blind.

Related 2006 Pirelli Calendar

As anyone who’s been into cars for years can attest, the annual Pirelli calendar is legendary. Not only is it sought after because of it’s rarity, but also for it’s artful nudie shots, that have absolutely nothing to do with tires. In fact, I don’t think there are cars or tires featured in any of the shots in the years since 1968 when we saw a couple of psychadelic dune buggies. Pirelli now has a wonderful site devoted to the calendar, which includes archives dating way back to 1964. Being guys, we just had to study the archives to find the first signs of nippular activity! In 1970, we see some outline, but not until 1971 did we see the nekkid breast. Looking at the progression to the 2006 version, I expect we’ll see an X rated calendar (in black & white of course) by about 2012.
