Will Champ Car race at Mt Tremblant in 2007?

When Champ Car lost it’s date in Montreal to NASCAR, many figured that Canada had lost another pro race weekend. It seems that this may not be the case. An article in today’s Globe and Mail points towards a likely move to Mount Tremblant on the Canada Day long weekend. While Karl Kalkhoven won’t come out and admit the race will happen, he definately seems to support the idea. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear official news very soon.
A number of recent upgrades to the track and facility have brought the place up to modern standards and there is no question that the place has some serious history and belongs on the schedule. Racing first started in the summer of 1964 and the first ever Can Am race was held at the rolling circuit located in rural Quebec. A young Gilles Villeneuve cut his teeth there driving his first Formula Ford.

Temblant is truly a historical track and it would be incredible to see Champ Car race there.
