Believe it or not, Andrew Comrie-Picard kept this battle worn Mitsubishi EVO IX alive to pull out a 4th place finish at last weekend’s 100 Acre Wood rally in snowy Missouri. Battling a failing transmission, ACP was pushing hard to stay on the pace, when Mother Nature threw a couple of trees in the way! Even with substantial front an rear end damage, the EVO kept running. The impressive finish kept the team in 2nd place in the US Championship, behind the factory backed Subaru of Ken Block.
Team ACP has announced that they will be offering weekly progress updates for the rest of the season on Youtube, but we’ll also be posting them here in The Garage. You can check out the coverage from Perce Neige after the break.

American car shows are known for pretty girls. European shows are known for professional girls. Canadian shows are known for, well, no girls. Aside from some roller skaters that I missed while interviewing Chip Foose, Mitsubishi was the only company that included any female companionship for the new models.
At this year’s Canadian International Autoshow, Mitsubishi unveiled the new Lancer Ralliart and the Concept-cX. I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that the only shot I took of the Ralliart is way off in the background behind the cX. I suppose that’s because I think the little diesel runabout is ultimately a more important vehicle than the Evo IX’s little brother.

Let’s hope the Mitsubishi RA concept comes to fruition in some form down the road. This concept must be bleary eyed from all the photog’s flashes over the past few days. This is one of the true concept stars of the show.
Mitsubishi claims there are no plans to put this car into production. Yet in talking to the talented Dave O’Connell, Chief Design Officer since August, I heard - “The Concept RA points the way forward with what Mitsubishi might do with a pure sports car.” The “might” leads me to believe there is probably something in the works. A new Eclipse?

Those pesky Japanese manufacturers are always keeping the cool small stuff for their own markets. Why oh why can’t we get some mini car love here in North America? Apparently Mitsubishi has added the Ralliart moniker to their JDM Colt and bumped the turbo’d 1.5 liter 4 cylinder up to a whopping 163 hp. Other upgrades include lighter 16 inch wheels and the usual interior dress up bits.
Come on Mitsubishi! Give us a nice Christmas present by bringing this little beast to our shores!

There is nothing more satisfying than watching 2 different techs, on 2 different occasions struggle with a trim rattle and then swooping in and fixing it on the first try.
There is something about having the boss save the day that is very humbling to even the best mechanic.
The problem this time? A loose captive nut/washer contraption in the convertible top frame of an 07 Eclipse that rattled intermittently over uneven roads.

Since the embargo on photos of the Mitsubishi’s Evo X was lifted on October 4th, there have been a few galleries popping up here and there around the internet. Now it’s our turn to show off the pre production testers that have found their way to Canada. The silver and black/grey cars are wearing monster BBS rims, with giant Brembo brakes, while the red car is shod with more subtle production type rims. I would suspect the red car is the entry level model, while the other two are full blown Evo X road monsters. Mitsubishi Canada actually seems to have 4 cars, with 3 of them plated. Keen eyed Toronto enthusiasts will likely see these puppies cruising the streets of Toronto The Good over the coming months.
Gallery after the break. I obviously need to work on my indoor photography skills before car show season, as these aren’t quite as sharp as our readers are used to, but they’ll do for now!

Earlier this month, Mitsubishi showed some teaser sketches of the upcoming Concept-cX which got the blogosphere buzzing. That buzz seem warranted as more details and photos of the vehicle become available leading up to the Frankfurt Motor Show which kicks off on September 15.
With the angular front grille and headlights, there is no mistaking that the Concept-cX is the little brother of the newly released 2008 Lancer. Likewise, the functional horizontally split tailgate is borrowed from the popular 2007 Outlander. With 19 inch wheels and all wheel drive, the Concept-cX seems like it may have a bit of a split personality as it tries to combine sporty with utility. That’s a good thing.
Getting things under way, at least in concept form, is a clean 1.8 liter turbo diesel mated to Mitsubishi’s new twin clutch Sport Shift Transmission that will be found first in the Evo X. This package promises to deliver performance and fuel efficiency.

Mitsubishi has released further details about the upcoming Concept-cX, their next generation SUV concept. The exterior of the Concept-cX shares strong corporate design cues at the front, where the hood and grill lines mimic the 2008 Lancer. The roofline is reminiscent of the current model Outlander. Elsewhere in the vehicle, Mitsubishi is showing their dedication towards building greener vehicles. The planned powerplant is a high efficiency 1.8 liter, high output, turbocharged diesel which is mated to Mitsubishi’s new twin clutch sport shift transmission. Perhaps the most eco friendly element is the interior plastic, which is quite literally, green. Made with plant based resins, Mitsubishi’s revolutionary plastic is intended to reduce impact on petroleum supplies.

In it’s latest salvo against rival Subaru, Mitsubishi has dished out the goods on how the next gen Evo will put it’s 300 plus ponies to the ground. With a new Super All Wheel Control system, Mitsubishi aims to take vehicle stability control systems to new heights, while a twin clutch sport transmission will provide super quick clutchless shifting. What does all of this mean? It means that Joe Average can look like a pro while attacking his morning commute!

When you spend your day in a new car dealership, it’s not often you see any really different vehicles. So today, when Vijay Parany from JDM Cars arrived in a 1991 Mitsubishi Jeep, we all noticed.
Now many of you will say, as I did that Mitsubishi and Jeep have nothing to do with each other. You would be wrong. I was too.
