ACP gets it all wrong at the X-Games

I don’t have any background story yet, but this video of Andrew Comrie Picard and the Evo at the 2008 X-Games doesn’t really need any description.

Evo X loses it’s loud pedal

evo-pedal.jpg

We’ve all heard of racers who’ve had their quick release steering wheel or shifter come off in their hand. That’s usually the result of some crew member who either didn’t inspect or install a part correctly. I can’t recall hearing of a new car off the showroom floor leaving it’s driver without a go pedal.

One Evo X owner had just that happen, when he brought up the rev’s and popped the clutch in front of an assembled group of Subaru owners. That’s right, right foot goes down, left foot comes up and right foot goes to the boards!

The Mitsu warranty folks apparently have deemed this to be a driver abuse situation and have refused to cover the cost of installing a new pedal. Fortunately, the dealer is stepping up and doing the right thing for their loyal customer. Somehow, I would be surprised if there isn’t some fireworks in the Mitsubishi offices, when the product quality team discover that the warranty people didn’t get that pedal back.

Call this the Ultimate Traction Control device!

Video: ACP plays bumper cars

Remember the pics we showed you last weekend of Andrew Comrie-Picard’s bent Evo? Well, that poor Mitsu has been taking a beating already this season. A few weeks ago at the Rallye Perce Neige, ACP made contact with both Pat Richard and Sylvain Erickson in a single stage!

ACP’s EVO takes a licking and keeps on ticking

acp-front-tree.jpg

Believe it or not, Andrew Comrie-Picard kept this battle worn Mitsubishi EVO IX alive to pull out a 4th place finish at last weekend’s 100 Acre Wood rally in snowy Missouri. Battling a failing transmission, ACP was pushing hard to stay on the pace, when Mother Nature threw a couple of trees in the way! Even with substantial front an rear end damage, the EVO kept running. The impressive finish kept the team in 2nd place in the US Championship, behind the factory backed Subaru of Ken Block.

Team ACP has announced that they will be offering weekly progress updates for the rest of the season on Youtube, but we’ll also be posting them here in The Garage. You can check out the coverage from Perce Neige after the break.
