2009 Nissan Cube: Gallery

We had some technical difficulties adding the cube gallery yesterday, so rather than a half dozen images from the LA Auto Show floor, we’ve raided Nissan’s stores to bring you an enormous gallery of the super cool Nissan Cube. To get even more details, visit the Cube Mobile Device.

Video: Under the Pentastar - Chrysler

The new team at Chrysler are hard at work bringing The New Chrysler back in to line. Not only are they working on the business, but the media team are also making sure to use the net to share what’s going on with the masses. Over the past few weeks, they’ve been releasing a weekly video showcasing the weeks’ news. Somehow I’ve missed it until today, but I think we’ll post these weekly in The Garage.

This week, the major market TV folks made a stop in at Chrysler’s truck plant, while the excitement was happening in LA with the launch of the Hybrid Hemi Aspen/Durango twins. Also at LA, Chrysler showed the Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and the mighty Viper SRT10 ACR. Construction began in China on the new Dodge Caravan. On the feel good side of things, Chrysler staffers were getting dirty working with Kaboom to build a playground in Highland Park.

Subaru announces US pricing for 2008 Impreza WRX STI

sti-thumb.jpg

At the LA Auto Show yesterday, Subaru announced pricing for the long awaited STI version of the Impreza. The 305 horsepower super hatch will hit US showrooms in January for $34,995. Fully loaded with BBS package and Navi, the STI will fetch $38,795.

Given that the 2007 STI retails for $48,995 here in Canada, it will be interesting to see where the price point falls on the north side of the border. One would think that execs at Subaru and Mitsubishi will be keeping close tabs on where their arch rival prices their rally star.

Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe in the flesh at LA Auto Show

genesis-coupe-front.jpg

Following the teaser sketches Hyundai released of the Concept Genesis rear wheel drive coupe of couple of weeks ago, the Korean automaker has revealed the car at the LA Auto Show.

Not only does the car look super hot, but the numbers suggest that this could be the sports car that sends Hyundai on it’s rise through the performance car world. A rear wheel drive 2+2 boasting 300 horsepower will not only keep owners of aging Tiburon’s in the Hyundai fold, but will likely draw all sorts of new buyers into the showrooms.

Green Environmentalists see Red in LA

toyota-sequoia1.jpg

Toyota’s attempts to convince the public that they are going for the green might have backfired in a big cloud of emissions at the LA Auto Show. The normally beloved darling of the left coast car fiesta has drawn the ire of environmentalist’s big time.

To get things started, after introducing a television advertising campaign that shows a car virtually becoming biodegradable before our eyes, the Japanese automaker unveiled a full-size SUV that literally repulsed those whose thoughts turn to clean air and reduced use of natural resources.

Not Your Grandmother’s Car

It has been the fodder of comedians for many years to tell jokes about the little old lady in Florida who can barely see over the steering wheel of her Lincoln as she crawls down Collins Avenue. Well, Ford isn’t joking as they try to tell the public in 2008 that a Lincoln is not your grandmother’s car.

On Wednesday, Ford introduced Lincoln’s new flagship sedan, the MKS, at the LA Auto Show.
