Gallery: Thursday in the paddock at Grand Prix of Mosport

July 20, 2012 by Gary Grant Leave a Comment

Race fans start showing up at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park today for the Grand Prix of Mosport, but for the teams, the action started yesterday. As the LMP 1 & 2 teams set up their paddock and pit spaces, the support series spent the day testing on track. Me, I spent part of the day wandering with the camera and the rest of it in the press room doing stuff for my gig at Wheels.

Check out a gallery from yesterday after the break.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is true, then there is no need for me to do anything but show off a huge gallery of pics from Sunday’s American Le Mans race at the Grand Prix of Mosport.

Crazy Leo can’t stay away from the dirt, even at Mosport

They call him Crazy Leo and he’s a fiend in a Subaru on loose surfaces. Crazy Leo drives rally cars. This weekend though, Crazy Leo traded in his gravel tires for slicks for his first ever road race in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship at the legendary Mosport International Raceway.

CTCC brings the excitement at Grand Prix of Mosport

July 25, 2011 by Gary Grant Leave a Comment

Over the past few race weekends there has been a bit of grumbling around the media room about the Canadian touring cars and the somewhat shrunken grids as compared to last year. Beyond the series thoroughly up to date and exciting marketing endeavors, the Castrol Canadian Touring Car competitors proved this series is the place to race yesterday by putting on the absolute best race of the annual Grand Prix of Mosport. From the first lap to the finish line, there was excitement everywhere on track.

Not surprisingly, the familiar red, white and green Hyundai Genesis Coupe of Sasha Anis led the field towards me in turn 1. That lead didn’t last though as an uncharacteristic tie rod failure stuffed Anis into the tires in 3. That left Richard Boake in the black and yellow Subaru in the lead with Arek Wojciechowski in second.
