More Group B Porn

Ever seen a Finnish rally car ace dance? Neither had I, but this next compilation somehow manages to fit in some tribal village action. There are a few clips that I haven’t seen before, but not all are actually Group B. The flick opens with a shot of a BMW M1, which I can’t recall ever seeing one on gravel. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Ferrari. A 400i if memory serves.

Oh yes…ignore the cheesy Bryan Adams soundtrack!

No Parking on Both Sides

both-sides.jpg

While flipping through the Toronto Star’s Wheels section this morning, I came across a letter that was just too classic not to comment on.

Q I received a parking ticket on a side road in Markham.

There were signs on one side of the road only that said: “Fire access route. No parking on both sides.”

My interpretation was that parking wasn’t allowed on both sides of the post, not both sides of the street.

Is the ticket legal, even though the signs aren’t clear?

Does one have to cross the street, or check all four corners of an intersection, to see if parking is permitted?

Read the response given by the Bylaw Enforcement office after the break. It’s even better!

Should I fix it? How much is too much?

One of the most common question I’m face with owners of old cars is: It’s a lot of money. should I fix it?
It’s quite a dilemma, and it’s a question with no easy answer.

The scene is almost always the same. The customer is driving a 10 or 12 year old second hand car. A couple of years ago they scraped together to buy it and have done next to no maintenance. They have developed a problem that is beyond the skills of the local major tire chain and they have to come to a dealer. The car has many faults, several of which are not only terminal, but expensive. The car isn’t safe to drive. The repairs needed to make it safe will cost more than the car is worth and they likely don’t address the driveability problem that brought them in in the first place. Then comes the question.

2006 Canadian Rally Championship Intro Video

Over at Formula Photo, Warwick has posted the fruits of his labour from the last year working with the Canadian Rally Championship. The team have put together a slick package that should draw viewers and help increase interest in Canadian Rally. Andrew Comrie Picard was a great choice as host and pairs well with Jen Horsey. Just like Speed TV has learned, having hosts that are also competitors really works.

The little Suzuki ACP talks about is the same as the car that we used to rally here in The Garage.

Cool Fire Station

This may be one of the coolest fire stations we’ve seen. Built almost entirely out of glass, this ultimate garage is in The Netherlands. Where did they hide the pole?

Tesla Roadster unveiled

tesla_34_rear.jpg

The motoring world has been waiting for months to see it and yet the first spy shots didn’t appear until a couple of days ago. An electric car that is a real sports car. Tesla Motors has been hard at work and the finished product shows it. Not only is the car drop dead gorgeous, but it is also quick. 0-60 comes up in only 4 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. Being electric, the car is apparently completely silent. Maybe even best of all, the batteries will be good for 250 miles between charges which isn’t all that different from a tank of gas. That gives the Tesla Roadster some real world usability.
