Last night I had the chance to cruise Yonge Street on a nice, clear, warmish evening just like I did when I was 17. Except that now I’m old and it was a coffee in my hand, not a mickey of Captain Morgan’s in my coat pocket and it was a Tuesday, not the weekend.

Plymouth Tornado

Last week, The Hamster spoke about his jet powered ride:

“We wanted to use the afterburners because essentially, if an ordinary car has about 100 horsepower, after you light the afterburners it has 10,000 horsepower.”

Oops…wrong car.

The 1958 Plymouth Tornado Concept just looks like it would be jet powered. In fact, the space program inspired Tornado is built on a 1958 Fury chassis (think Christine). Unlike the scary movie star, the Tornado is powered by a 318, mated to a push button automatic tranny. Having sat in a field for many years, the 48 year old one off has undergone a $150,000 US restoration and will go on the auction block at Red Baron on November 11.
