Video: Dario Franchitti’s wild ride

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 215 mph, Dario Franchitti got a bit of a nudge from Dan Wheldon during the Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. What followed was one of the wildest rides IRL has seen for some time. Perhaps the wildest part is that there were no injuries. While the design strength of the cars kept everyone safe, Lady Luck player her part as well, given that Dario’s car hit AJ Foyt IV in the head.

Video: More on Winklehock and BMW M1

It seems we’ve hit a popular topic with the combination of Manfred Winklehock and the BMW M1. West Coast contributor, Gary Faules spent some time poking around Youtube last night and came up with a few choice vids of the man and one of his steeds in action.

First up, we have the super scary crash where Manfred’s Formula 2 car takes flight off a rise at the old Nurburgring. Remember that once the car begins to roll, it’s going through fencing. Video: Digital simulation of Kubica’s crash in Montreal

Digital technology and gaming have taken race car simulations to incredible new heights over the last couple of years and designers keep raising the bar. Now, thanks to Youtube user helsingPL, we have a digital recreation of the wild ride Robert Kubica took during this year’s Canadian Grand Prix. Interesting to note how the developer has highlighted each safety feature throughout the event. Kubica definitely owes a huge debt to the designers. Oh yes, also to his lucky stars!

When it was Troy Chritchley’s turn, up came the revs and the smoke show started. Then things went wrong and he lost control of the car. Yet Another Enzo Bites The Dust

griffin-enzo.jpg

Comedian Eddie Griffin is the latest in a growing line of no talent dweebs to write off a Ferrari Enzo. It seems that Griffin was practicing for a charity race to promote a movie he’s working on called Redline, when he lost it and wiped the front end off the car.

Said Griffin: “Undercover Brother’s good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can’t drive,”
