It seems like it’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Ashley Taws. Ontario race fans and their kids will recognize her as the popular pilot of the Barbie Car. Here in The Garage, our 13 year old racer still has one of Ashley’s fan cards in her room. Taws took Ontario grassroots open wheel racing to heights it had never seen with the successful partnership with Walmart and Barbie. Sadly, Miss Taws was a passenger in a serious road crash that caused sever injuries. A return to racing was short lived, as the ongoing pain prevented her from driving.
That is all in the past now. On Thursday, Ashley Taws announced a two pronged attack on the racing world. Not only will she be road racing in the Canadian Touring Car Championship Super Touring Series in a BMW E30, but Ashley will also tackle the Ontario Sportsman Series in a Dodge Charger. That’s right, the Barbie Car is going stock car racing! This is going to be great.

Maybe it’s just me, but there seems to be something wrong with this story. A large UK Nissan dealership has teamed up with a local license plate manufacturer to create this cool pink Micra, which currently sits in the showroom at Chorley Nissan in North West England.
The base price of a Micra C+C is 14,750 pounds. The combo of the car and the plate BAR81E are priced at 36,250!!!! The dealer plans to donate a whopping 250 pounds to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a very worthy cause. Interestingly, the folks at NewReg have pledged 21,500 when the car has sold.
Somehow, it seems like the dealership stands to gain more than anybody.

What little girl hasn’t wanted the famous Barbie Beetle? Well ok, not the ones who already have the Corvette, but that’s another story.
Down in Mexico, they are building 13 Barbie Edition New Beetles for sale through select dealers. The cars sport the prerequisite dayglo pink exterior, complete with pink interior details and even pink wheel lug nuts.
When are we going to see the Barbie Edition Z06?
