Steve McQueen’s Ferrari For Sale: Scooped by Wheels
by Gary Grant on April 30, 2007 · 0 comments
If you’ve got a big chunk of change lying around, you might get the chance to own one of the coolest cars on anyone’s block. In August in Monterey, Christies will be auctioning Steve McQueen’s personal Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. What a great opportunity. Steve McQueen’s favourite car. Once again, it could be yours if you have an extra mil or so.

The thing that struck me as odd about this story actually has nothing to do with the story. Early Saturday morning, I was thumbing through the Toronto Star’s Wheels section and read a blurb about the car. Incredible! Wheels actually broke a story! In print! I’ve been working on The Garage for close to 2 years now and in that time, I can’t remember the last time Wheels printed news that I hadn’t already read in the blogosphere or even written about myself.
Maybe that’s why traditional journalists can’t stand bloggers. The print guys rarely get the scoop anymore, as that honour goes to the ultra quick world of the blogger. Oh well, I suppose it’s ok that they beat us to this one.
