Winter 2008 has been one of the worst on record here in Ontario. The snowfall record in Toronto was 207 cm (81.5 inches) and was set way back in the 1930’s. As of Thursday, we had received over 170 cm. On Friday & Saturday, Mother Nature dumped another whopping 30 cm.
We spotted this poor plow in a shopping mall last weekend. It seems that the poor old girl has reached the end of the road. The scary thing is that this truck has obviously not had any sort of inspections over the last few years, as this sort of thing doesn’t happen over night. Fortunately it happened in a parking lot and not on a highway.

To give you an idea of what it has been like here, this table was clear of snow on Thursday!

A good friend of mine back in Ohio really got hit and the storm, which rolled in Friday, dumped 20.4 inches of snow on Columbus, breaking the city’s previous record of 15.3 inches set in February 1910 while blizzard conditions shut down highways and stranded air travelers in the region. The storm eventually swept into the East Coast, battering Pennsylvania and New Jersey with a line of thunderstorms. By early Sunday, tens of thousands were left without electric power.
