Not content to build a 350Z GTS, Nissan may be planning an all out assault on the sports car world with a V8 powered monster rebadged as the 450Z. Pulling a 4.5 liter V8 from the Infiniti stable, this beast could produce 400 hp. There is even talk of 4 wheel drive! Presumably this car would slot in somewhere between the 350Z and the GTR.

That is scary.
Nice idea, but it won’t be in this generation of the car - it won’t fit with production tolerances. All this is pure speculation, and it’s been going on for two years here. Al technologies explored for the GT-R are rejected by that team, they are open for use on other teams. Hence the discussion. Same exact thing for the supercharged 3.5.
IMHO, most important thing is to get this car ont he new platform *and* improve the engineering quality. That’s been terrible since the car came out… so many alignment issues (especially int he fornt suspension, which does not even alow camber adjustment), and transmission issues. Forget anything else until the mnew platform, that’s the first chance to improve any of this.
It’s a great car, but too bad some of the basics are so poor.
[...] Maybe I’m longing to get back into my old Nissan dealership, or maybe Nissan just has some really cool things coming down the pipe, but it seems like there is lots of Nissan news in The Garage lately. The latest is from Nissan in the UK and comes in the form of a hopped up Murano. [...]
[...] The blogosphere has been overrun with the Nissan-Renault-GM stories and some readers may wonder why The Garage hasn’t spoken up about the potential merger, given our obvious love of Nissan vehicles. Well, it’s really quite simple. The Garage is really a blog about cars and cool car related stuff. I don’t pretend to be a business analyst and quite frankly the corporate stuff bores me. I’d much rather report on silly product lanches with multi coloured geese. [...]
