Racing then and now.

Here is some great footage from the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race. Try and imagine a Nascar race if they allowed the crowds beyond the fence.

Here is another video from the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race.

This last one takes a very interesting look at various parts of the track when compared to then and now. I wonder how many people have walked on some of the closed sections without having a clue as to what used to take place there let alone those who took part in it.

These are great documents of the races.
Notice how high the driver and his mechanic sit on these smoke-belching monsters, especially on the hairpins, drifting around like they do. Even the cameraman was brave!
