It’s been an incredible day at the Canadian International Autoshow. Miles and miles of walking are done and my feet are killing me, not to mention that I’m exhausted and my shoulder hurts from carrying a backpack filled with laptop and 20 pounds of press stuff.

Our Star photog, Jaimie has taken well over 600 pics and I’ve contributed another 30 or so, so we’ve got lots of editing to do. so what were the highlights of the day? Well, as you can see, the Audi R8 is stunning. Mercedes chose Toronto for the North American debut of the new McLaren Mercedes 722 SLR, a hand built monster that might be one of the prettiest unobtainable cars on the road. Ford showed the magnificent Shelby GR-1, from way back in 05. It was in the running for the top 5 coolest cars in the show. There was a bunch of this year’s cool new concepts, and we’ve got pics of all of them for you.

Perhaps the biggest letdown of the day was the promised World Premiere. We knew it was a DCX product. We thought maybe another new pickup, or perhaps a new concept. Instead, we got the new Dodge Sprinter. A super cool machine, no question, but it was a tiny bit anti climactic. And then there was the swag. In Detroit there were bongos. Chicago? A lunchbox full of stuff. Toronto? A ring bound press pack, a mini tape measure and some truffles for Valentines day. Oddly, there was no new Dakota or new Ram. There were in fact no Dodge pickups in the booth. The only utility type device was the ultra cool Jeep Gladiator concept. Again, we will have tons of pics over the next few days.

We met a bunch of really nice traditional auto media types who all seemed genuinely interested in what us bloggers do.

Now, it’s time to go create and then enjoy a nice Valentines day dinner with Mamma G.
