Praise be for restrictive crash testing laws

Here in North America, we miss out on all sorts of cool cars that don’t meet our crash test standards. In Canada, we see even fewer cool cars than in the States. Examples? How about the Mitsubishi Evo 9? Sold in the US, not sold in Canada. Something to do with front bumper or headlight height. Ok, so we got the WRX STi but that’s only half of the battling pair.

Soon, we are to be faced with cars built in China. How are they going to fare on the safety front? Let’s just say that they’ve got some serious work to do before they will be allowed to sell their cars on our shores.

Over at Australia Car Advice, they’ve begun a bit of an anti Chinese car campaign and with good reason. It looks like the big island down under may soon start seeing Chinese built cars in dealerships and some of those cars have been undergoing safety test. The visuals are frightening:

This was the second video they’ve sourced. To view the first, visit Australian Car Advice. For pity’s sake, don’t buy one of these disasters until they’ve done some real product safety development and testing!

What’s the big deal? The impact barrier looks like it held up just fine. LOL.

No safer barriers in crash tests!
