You could say it was sort of an ultimate customer appreciation night. Porsche Canada and uber dealer Pfaff Porsche invited loyal Porsche customers to Toronto’s Roy Thompson Hall to meet American Le Mans Series drivers Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard and their steed, the RS Spyder. A handful of local automotive media types were also in on the evening.
While the current model line up was well represented, the star of the show had to be the bright yellow Penske Porsche RS Spyder. This 500 horsepower sports racing machine boasts the latest aerodynamic and technical details such as Direct Fuel Injection. A prime example of how racing improves the breed, the DFI system will be appearing on production 911 models very soon.
Not only were guests well fed and got to meet the Porsche Hot Shoes, but the raffle of a Porsche RS Spyder helmet was a nice surprise for one lucky guest. Sad to say that my number was not the one announced.
This weekend’s race at Mosport is the only Canadian stop for the ALMS Series, so it will be the only opportunity many Porsche enthusiasts will get to see the RS Spyder in action. The historic track is less than an hour away from mid-town Toronto, so there is no excuse not to head up this weekend. For the Porsche enthusiast, seeing these cars at speed is something you’ll never forget.

Gary,
Looks like it was a lot of fun. I wish Porsche did more stuff down my way.
I’m always amazed when I get up close and personal to any race car. The cockpit is always so small. At 6′3″ and 270lbs I’m luck to fit into my production Porsche(s).
