It makes sense then, that a company like FEL, with such deep roots in international sports car racing would launch a world class series that may well revitalize the top levels of Canadian racing.
As of this morning, the entry list is populated with no less than 18 cars and include some of racing’s heaviest hitters.
Between them, Multimatic Motorsports, AIM Autosport and Pfaff Motorsports have countless international wins, including several Le Mans and Daytona overall victories. They will be joined by top notch competition from Hyundai Racing Canada, Blanchett Motorsports, Mark Motors Racing, TWOth Autosport, GT Racing, Paragon Competition, Speedstar Motorsports, Sportscar Boutique and R. Ferri Motorsports.
The official tentative schedule was posted this morning:
May 21, 22, 23 – Victoria Day Sprints – Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
July 16, 17, 18 – TBC
August 6, 7, 8 – Calabogie Motorsports Park
August 27, 28, 29 – ICAR Mirabel
October 1, 2, 3 – Celebration of Speed – Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
- One additional weekend TBD
Take note of that July date, as that weekend has traditionally been the date for a couple of Canada’s top motorsport events. I think it is safe to assume at this point the status of any international events hinge on the Covid situation and whether cross border traffic has been allowed.
All in all, this is fantastic news for everybody who is interested in racing here in Canada!
