Another week, another supercar smoked by a car jockey. This time, the scene is a hotel in Monaco and the victimized machine is a Lamborghini Aventador. It would appear that after successfully backing the bull into a parking spot, the valet gave the throttle a blip, presumably to hear it snort. The only problem was that the semi-automatic seven speed was in gear. The car leaped ahead, right into a Toyota Rav4.
Needless to say, the web is having a field day with the valet, but I suspect this may have been an issue with the car and the driver’s lack of familiarity with it’s quirks. This thread on Lamborghini Talk shows that the gearbox has a bit of a weird hesitation when leaving a stop. Anyone who has driven a car with a dual clutch type of transmission knows that the reverse to drive transition can be a bit messy at the best of times. I have a feeling that after backing up a bit too close to the curb, the valet might have been trying to move the car forward a bit, but then the transmission actually engaged first and shot him forward.
I’m all for making fun of dumbasses, but I think this was a case of shitty design.
