Mazda MX-5 to receive a folding metal roof

Apparently this new varient of the miata MX-5 is slated to debut next month at the British auto show. while Euroblog is worried that the extra weight might impact performance, The Garage is hoping that it improves access to the driver’s seat! Having moved to a Mazda store, I’ve had a chance to spend some time in Miata’s of all age. My opinion of the Miata has changed greatly since the first time I drove a first gen model. The current MX-5 is still a great car to drive and it even has a decent amount of belly room if the seat isn’t reclined to gangsta mode, but it’s still a giant pain in the ass for a fat guy to get in with the roof up!

I REALLY want one of these to replace my daily driver (Suzuki Aerio). I wouldn’t loathe leaving the Lotus in the garage on rainy days as much and it would much more similar experience than the Suzuki. Won’t be able to afford a new one but I’ll definitely have my eye on the retractable hardtop models in the next 3 or 4 years as used models start to hit the market.
