This whole Father’s Day thing gets better every year. It all begins when you have your first child and soon afterwards you get a finger-painted card. As the years go by the presents get a little better until you get a tie and a pen set and later you may even get lucky and get taken out to dinner. Then things get really good… they move out. Just kidding. They never really move out and that’s a good thing however, eventually the finger-painted cards come again when the grand-kids come into the picture and the whole cycle starts all over again. Today there was no finger-painting, no ties, and most certainly no sitting in some dreary restaurant having to wait for what seems like forever because,,, well, because it’s Father’s Day and their way too busy. Today my kids, grandson and wife took me the track. Now for many that may seem like just another day at the races but for us it was a blast simply because we are not used to sitting on the “other” side of the fence and for me to be able to relax and really be able to enjoy my entire family was like a slice of Heaven. Here are a few shots of a relaxing Father’s Day at Infineon Raceway and Happy Father’s Day to all the rest of you.

Thanks for sharing Gary, looks like you had great Father’s Day!
Happy Father’s Day to you all. Mine was rather quiet as my girls are far away.
Thanks Tom and yes it sure was. I posted a follow post for Sunday which you may enjoy as well.

RB,
Albeit short and to the point, your comment touched me. When I was 17 years old I left home in Oregon and came to California to race cars. Little did I realize how much regret I would have long after my father passed away. I never realized how much I missed out on by missing so many Father’s days due to the fact that I lived so far away. Now that I have kids and a grandson of my own can I appreciate how much they mean to me and how fortunate I am that they live nearby. Had I to do all over again there would positively be some changes. What’s that old saying about hindsight?
