I managed to catch the last 14 laps of today’s Grand Prix from Spa, just in time to watch the monumental battle between the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari. Mixed wet & dry surfaces, run off roads, errant spinners and big brass balls all came together to produce one of the best finishes F1 has produced in years. At the end, it was Hamilton who kept it on the island and earned a very much deserved place atop the podium.
Oh yes, I yelled so much I woke up the teenager! Oh well, she should have been awake anyway!
Big Tool Man Grunt! Ugh, Ugh, Ughhhhhh.
Only to have Three Blind Mice (the race [incompentent] Stewards) take it away.
I was going to comment on this yesterday, then our server went for a dump.
This is perhaps the biggest fumble the F1 world has made to date. What a trio of turds!
It was clear from the video feed that Hamilton re-entered the track and lifted to allow Raikkonen to retake the lead. If officials have any clue whatsoever, Hamilton’s win will be reinstated.
If not, maybe McLaren should move to Indycar for 2009!
Nascar seems to believe controversy is good for the sport.
Yes but NAPCAR don’t take wins away (except in the case of Wendell Scott many years ago and they later quietly reinstated his win) they just issue fines and crew suspensions.
Wendell’s case was also different in that he was not shown as the winner at the time. Amongst other things they were afraid of a riot as Wendell was black in redneck country.
You know, I hate to say this but I’m starting to think that young Hamilton’s face might not exactly fit in right with the bosses at F1, if you know what I mean???
That young lad is a real Gentleman and totally deserves the win because “he did the right thing”.
In my opinion, it’s crap like this which is losing them F1 fans, they bring shame on themselves and the whole sport!
It’s also seems strange to me that these things always seem to benefit Ferrari in some way, what gives???
Ironic that this decision was the fifth time this year that Hamilton had been penalised at a Grand Prix and came a year after his McLaren team were hit with a 100 million dollars fine for spying on Ferrari.
What’s that old saying about money talks and….
Crash, I shudder to think that your suggestion may be right, though I hope GF is right that it is motivated by the almighty dollar.
