Torontonian James Hinchcliffe has reason to give thanks on this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Firstly he launched from 5th to 2nd place at the start of the 10 lap sprint race. Hinch managed to stay in second, scoring his first podium in A1GP, with Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong taking the top spot.
The strong finish rewarded Team Canada with it’s first front row start and
Hinch took advantage of the position. He rocketed off the line to enter the first turn in the lead and was to lead (except for some pit stop windows) until ten laps from the end. While trying to hold off Yoong in his now faster car, James got punted from behind as Yoong tried to pass at the wrong place. After recovering from the spin, Hinchcliffe was able to pull out a 5th place which is still a great finish for the Canadian rookie. Hinch and Team Canada have served notice that they are going to be a force to be watched in coming events.
