Is time running out for Max Mosley?

The world certainly seems to be falling apart for Formula 1’s chief turd burglar these days. First, he gets caught in the act of getting his rocks off to a reenactment of a Nazi death camp. Secondly, he proclaims it is nobody’s business and initiates legal proceedings against the news rag that broke the story. Fat chance of winning that one, as the British court rightly shuts down his frivolous lawsuit and refuses to punish the News of The World.

On June 3rd, the FIA is holding an Extraordinary General Assembly meeting of the FIA Senate which appears to have been scheduled by Max himself. Maybe he doesn’t have the balls to step down himself, so he’s planning on having the board of directors do it for him. That way, he doesn’t have to concede that he might have actually done something wrong.

Here in Canada, the CAA has called for Mosley to step down. I’ll bet he’s terrified of that one, they might revoke his roadside assistance privileges during the Canadian Grand Prix!

On a more serious note, the folks at ASN Canada FIA taken a rare stance of strength against Mosley by issuing a letter to all ASN clubs and members calling for him to step down. I’m sure that Lil Ol Canada doesn’t carry much weight, but I’m confident that other ASN offices around the world are preparing very similar letters. If that is the case, the June 3rd meeting should finally rid Formula 1 of Max.

ASN Canada’s letter to members and clubs:

The image of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has recently come under scrutiny in the British media. Published details of the personal activities of Mr. Max Mosley, the President of the FIA, have attracted significant unflattering opinions from around the world and brought into question his suitability to retain his position.

We have received a number of queries regarding our position on this matter and wish to assure you that we are very concerned about the events which have resulted in this upsetting and embarrassing situation.

In the near future, the FIA is expected to call an Extraordinary General Assembly, to which ASN Canada FIA, as a member club, will be invited. At this meeting Mr. Mosley will have the opportunity to explain his actions and the possibly illegal invasion of his privacy which brought them to the attention of the public.

Notwithstanding our belief that Mr. Mosley has over the years made a huge contribution to motorsport, particularly in the area of safety, we will not hesitate to convey our position to the FIA should it become clear to us that the interests of motorsport would be best served were he to step down from his position as President of the FIA.
Respectfully,
The Board of Directors
ASN Canada FIA

It’s stories like this one that really tick me off. The media will do anything they can to create a story more newsworthy than it really is. If they were to get ALL the facts straight it ok. Now let’s start with missing fact number one… What is the gal with the whip’s phone number? Now THAT would be reporting. Inquiring minds whant to know.
