How about a Fisker?

Fisker Automotive has released a new image of its upcoming four-door hybrid luxury sports sedan. Fisker’s new car bills itself as “Eco-Chic”, looking to create a premium hybrid with top performance and green technology. Fisker has yet to name its green sedan.

The boutique automaker does have some mechanical details that are available. The company says that the vehicle will be powered by an electric motor paired with either a gasoline or diesel engine. Fisker is expecting the car to be rechargeable through a standard 110-volt outlet, while able to travel 50 miles on electricity alone or 600 miles using both the electric and gasoline motors.

The automaker, led by former Aston Martin Design Chief Henrik Fisker, has teamed up with Quantum Technologies to supply battery power for the vehicle and has recently appointed Vic Doolan to assist with the retail end of the hybrid sedan’s business plan. Doolan has previously held senior executive positions with BMW, Volvo, and Ford’s Premiere Automotive Group.

Fisker has plans to sell around 15,000 examples of its sub-$100,000 hybrid sedan annually after the vehicle enters production. Hopefully the automaker will have a name for its new car by January, when it makes its world debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

By the way, for the uninitiated, Fisker is no newcomer to the biz. The Tramonto and the Latigo CS, Fisker’s first two vehicles, were based off the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 6-Series respectively. This is Fisker’s first creation not based on another production vehicle.
