Holiday Gift Giving Guide: Motor City Dream Garages

What car guy doesn’t love seeing a great garage? We all do. It doesn’t even matter what is housed there. It could be a Pinto or even a Lada, but we just love to see what other car nuts have stored in their special place. Tools, memorabilia, car parts are all equally cool in someone else’s garage.

As I flip through Motor City Dream Garages, I am completely blown away. Names like Edsel Ford, Jack Roush and Bob Lutz. Advertising types, auto industry execs, a real estate guy, a tool maker. They are all part of the Detroit auto scene and they all have one thing in common. A love of cars. Oh yeah, and a hell of a garage to store their toys! About the only people missing are Tim Allen and Kid Rock. Oh well, they have to keep some secrets hidden for the next edition!

It used to be that having a great garage was a difficult task. When we started in this industry, finding garage flooring and garage storage was not near as easy as it is today. Today you can walk into any Lowes or Home Depot and find garage flooring. Even Sams Club now caries the BLT garage floor mat.

The best option still seams to be online. Companies like JNK Products, LLC offer complete lines of garage flooring and garage storage. Manufacturers like Better Life Technology make garage flooring mats that can be installed in hours while companies like MonsterRax make overhead storage products for the consumer to install.
It is still a buyer beware market though. There are a lot of fly-by-night websites. Always make sure that the company you buy from is registered with the Better Business Bureau and read the return policy before you make a purchase.
