It seems like everyone is getting a tattoo these days. Some people don’t put an awful lot of thought into what they get & you can pretty much guarantee that they will regret the work in years to come. I have wanted some ink for years, but I was determined to get something that was unique to me and that not only meant something, but described me.
I’ve studied image after image, but then a few weeks ago I was cleaning up the work shop and there it was, staring me in the face. A poster from the 1991 Palm Springs Road Races that was drawn by artist Dennis Simon. A Cobra, in a classic style.
I had already scoped out a local tattoo shop called Sinful Inflictions here in Whitby. Not only is the place super cool in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer mausoleum sort of way, but the company vehicle is a hearse! The people seemed nice and it was close to home. It looked like it might be a great fit.
Artist Barb took the drawing I provided her with and added her input to create an incredible piece of art that I am really happy with. She captured the spirit that I was after 100%. While she was having her way with my shoulder, I discovered that her grandfather had been a commercial artist who had worked on ad copy for GM in the Sixties and Seventies. This young lady has come by her automotive abilities naturally. We may have found a niche for her that she hadn’t even thought of.
I’m so happy with this piece, that I’m already starting to think of possible additions to it that will keep the Sixties road racing feel going.

Congrats! I think that it looks great looking forward to seeing it in person.
thanks all,
Yeah the general feeling seems to be that it’s the beginning of a 3/4 sleeve. I’m sure some track action will be part of it.
