It’s funny that I should be rattling on about engine swaps in last week’s Carnival of Wheels, and then Frostbite appears in my feeds this morning, courtesy of Hot Rod. Frostbite is a Volvo P1800 that has had a 350 Chevy crate motor shoehorned in where the B20 tractor motor once lived.
Built by Snow’s Hot Rod Shop in Aurora, this beasty lives just a few miles north of here. I may just have to pay Mr. Snow a visit to get a few more shots.

Wow!!! Is there any other engine swaps that you know of for the P-1800? I have heard of putting a small Ford 4cyl. into a P-1800, but no others. Any chance of getting pictures and /or other info. on this swap? Where are you located? Thanks! I’m in Brownsville, Or. and own a 1969 P-1800.

HEY, I JUST GET A P1800 1973, I START TO REBUILT IT, YOURS IS PERFECT, TO INSPIRE ME. JEJEE. IM NOT GONNA CHANGE THE ENGINE JUST RE PAIR IT, SAME WHEELS, BUT LOW AND ORIGINAL. I LL SEND YOU PICTURES.
Fuel-injected, the B20 provides a great setup. It gets good mileage until you stomp on the pedal and then it really moves. It’ll ‘move’ for perhaps many hundreds of thousands of miles between rebuilds! I am not sure why anyone would want to mess with it. However, if 130 hp (stock) is not enough, then get the aftermarket supercharger kit & try 200hp.
