The “Space Up Blue” concept is a battery driven guy that looks like a cross between a van and wagon. The car is not ready to win plaudits for its skin, but VW feels that its battery technology is cutting edge.

VW says that it has developed the first high temperature fuel cell vehicle. The cars HT-FC (High Temperature Fuel Cell) system is in VW’s words “superior to prior fuel cell technologies.”

The 12 lithium ion batteries generate an anemic 61 hp electric motor. I guess if you left your lunch at home and granny runs to catch up with you, she won’t break a sweat.VW also claims that you can achieve a range of 65 miles when running exclusively on the electric motor. When refueled through VW’s HT-FC, the car gains an extra 155 miles of range.
